I've wanted to do this for years! I just finished a 2 cylinder Ty 4 engine. I had a case that was not in real good shape and a couple of 1.7 heaqds that were OK. I welded up the oil holes on #2 & 4 and welded up 4 cam folowers , had the 1.7 heads fly cut for a big bore (96MM) P & C and have 1/2 of a 1911. For now and for simplicity I installed a standard 32/36 setup. I installed it om my engine start up stand and it started right up and ran fine , 60 PSI oil pressure at idle. No need to send a picture because it looks just like a regular engine although it sounds like a motorcycle.
I have a question for the forum, any suggestions on a carb set up?? I have a couple of old 1.7 bus carbs with the manifolds , I can use one of these carbs and center mount it . I can just continue to use the 32 MM weber and block off the 36 MM side??? any help. AL |

Neat, however you need to take it to the next level! http://thekneeslider.com/ducati-v-one-twin...gle-conversion/ Convert those other 2 cylinders into a supercharger! I thought about this very idea and was considering seeing what Jake thought. If you take a 6 cyl, and put the smallest jugs on the outer 4 cyls, and the biggest jugs you can get on the middle two cylinders, Then you make some custom heads & cams that use the middle two cylinders as a supercharger. Each compression stroke, one center cyl would force the intake air charge into the outer cylinders alternating forward/rear on alternating cycles. So you would convert a 6cyl into an internally supercharged 4 cyl. I did the calcs once on commercially available jugs and I think the boost was over 6PSI which is ballpark "worth it" as an experiment. |
