I would like to replace my car speakers, what is the difference between type s and r speakers.

There is enough room for 12'" subs back there, I still like to crank up the tunes once in awhile when im not listening to my Turbo 3.0 via Flowmaster muffler. heres a picture of my enclosures on the left you can see my Revere ware SS bowel.
