I did some searching and got differing results.
Is the cage nut in the door 5mm or 6mm. Thanks in advance - cheers! |

Yeah, I am pretty sure the ones in the door are M6 as well. At least, I don't remember having to buy a different box of Allen-head bolts when I replaced the fasteners.

OK - I am no longer confused.
I knocked one of the original cage (captive) nuts out of my early '72 door. It is an unmolested car that I have owned since 1978 (2nd owner). I took it to the hardware store 2 blocks away to use their nut/bolt gauge and it is indeed an M5. Definitely not M6. BTW - a SAE 10-32 worked as well but was a little loose. Keep in mind that my car is an early MY72 and a lot of things changed that year. It could be that they went to M6 at some point. |
