You all know the drill, find the car, make the call and go see it. The seller in question is a little strange on the phone but I made arrangements to drive 50 miles to go see a "CLEAN" car. He said he would be at the location at 4 pm until 6 pm. Got there early and looked at the car and said it would take it. He goes, you will have to bid on it, there are other people coming to look at the two cars.
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) He had stated what the price was in the ad and I had the cash in hand. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) I said I was not bidding and left. This certainly was a new twist for me! |

Working at a car dealership, and working with trades for new purchases, blue book comes up alot. Well blue book says my car is worth x amount. Normal response is when and how is Kelly going to pay you. Do they mail you a check or give you cash when the wrecker gets there. Do they adjust the price stated when they actually see it? Makes people think a little more about what they said. Of course this mostly happens on high mileage, engine light on, body damage, french fries under the seat trades.

The point being it's a guide only. Example 2000 Boxster, 133000 miles, 2nd engine, 2nd engine bought off ebay, rbay motor is smoking and has a whine, top does not work, tail lights cracked. Rough trade is 3500. Is it worth that to me who is going to have to recondition it for sale to make a profit? No, it is an auction piece. |
