Hello Everyone
Just took possession of this 1972 914 It has a 327 Chevy Small block with performance cams KEP Clutch/Adapter Still learning how the car handles but for my 2 short rides it is alot of fun Needs some small paint repair (rust bubbles) Otherwise I am very pleased with my purchase (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i273.photobucket.com-17663-1444868069.1.jpg) |

Nice shopping list on the sb 327.
I'm just wondering with mostly all good engine upgrades...why did the builder leave the low performance 1.94 heads; when this cam + 600cfm carb. will work so much better with the 2.02 heads? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) For these sturdy 4 bolt- main iron blocks I prefer the Chevy cam #3863151 hydraulic, 2.02 angle plug heads, roller rockers and pushrod guide plates. Nothing from China...all U.S. sourced parts (IMG:style_emoticons/default/flag.gif) |

This was a big concern for me since I was building mine in Colorado where the air is much thinner. Even at lower altitudes unless you have high compression or are going to be running above 5500 rpm alot, there is little to no benefit from the bigger valves, they will actually not perform as well. At least that's what I've been told. Do we have an SBC experts out there that can comment? |
