... excellent at stealing your personal information by recording your keystrokes, passwords, voice commands, browser history (which sites and for how long), encryption keys, the occasional photograph, etc. and sending them back to Microsoft so they can "help improve spellcheck."
If you actually WANT Windows 10 then please run one of the following to tighten up the privacy settings as best you can. Note than when monolithic updates happen, you'll probably have to update/re-run these tools: 1) Destroy Windows 10 Spying (easier) http://dws.wzor.net/ 2) W10Privacy (much more comprehensive, but use with caution) http://www.winprivacy.de/english-home/ 3) Spybot Anti-Beacon https://www.safer-networking.org/spybot-anti-beacon/ I see many machines in my shop with accidental Windows 10 installations that work like crap because if the computer manufacturer has drivers meant for earlier operating systems, then Microsoft uses crappy generic reference drivers. Very often this leads to slower machines and only partial hardware operation. Most manufacturers aren't going to bend over backwards making drivers for computers more than a couple of years old. If you have Windows 7 stay with it! And then run the following telemetry prevention tool. My favorite is the Aegis script, but remember to run the script by right-clicking -> Run As Administrator the aegis.cmd file. 1) Aegis Discussion page here at Voat: https://voat.co/v/technology/comments/459263 Download script from: https://github.com/th3power/aegis-voat/archive/master.zip If you need help send me a PM. -marcus |

I also found the tools you linked to interesting, but one appears to be Russian, the other German... seems even sketchier than trusting Microsoft. Not saying W10 doesn't have increased privacy concerns, but I haven't seen anyone cite actual instances of it being used to identify individuals or go beyond the type of information probably already garnered by basic web browsing. |

Yes, if you, like me, work in networking and use traffic scanners to monitor your network it's all you see. Plus the shit ton of encrypted telemetry traffic containing who-knows-what.
Also, just read the damn Windows 10 EULA. German? Russian? Sketchy? What the hell are you talking about? The only German tool I linked to was the W10Privacy. I didn't realize that code from Germans was automatically sketchy. I run these scripts regularly on my production machines (and certainly those of my clients) and I've never seen hint of wrongdoing. But feel free to scan the tools with a malware scanner beforehand by all means. ... excellent at stealing your personal information by recording your keystrokes, passwords, voice commands, browser history (which sites and for how long), encryption keys, the occasional photograph, etc. and sending them back to Microsoft so they can "help improve spellcheck." -marcus Any cited references of Microsoft actually logging keystrokes and passwords?
