Hey everyone
It is time to dedicate some attention to my, well, you already know don't you. I am looking to replace the original (yes original) carpet. I have been looking on Ebay and can't really tell what the quality is like of the kits that are available. I found one for 75.00 but the seller gave it a 5 out of 10. There is a supplier in OC califormia that I have spoken to that restores everything porsche and they have the original wool loop kit in original colors but that kit was over 500.00 Does anyone have a recommendation? I want to spend about 150.00 for a charcoal grey or black kit that will fit properly and look not like a crappy after market product until I can afford the real deal. Any thoughts? thx -jp- ps I have a 73 1.7 fuel injected model |

Those are the inner door seals on the pinch weld at the body. The outer door seals I make are a solid neoprene, and install by stretching the rubber to reduce the thickness. You can then push the rubber into the track, as it expands when the tension is released. No glue needed. They are solid, so unlike the OEM and other aftermarket seals (made from sponge rubber), they will not hold water in the seal up against the metal in the track. This is a major cause of rust in the door tracks.
The only unfortunate issue is that I'm currently back ordered, and it will probably be 3-4 weeks before I can have them back in stock. I think you will find these worth the wait in that they make an excellent seal. I think these alone without the inner door seal are more than adequate to seal out air, but still recommend both. Thanks, Mark |
