Simular to what occurs when a car comes up for sale and it inevitably gets made into a post then ends up being examined by the best in "The World" warts and all......has anyone in the group ever thought about putting their car in the danger zone only to wonder what those in "The World" would say? What pointers or suggestions might be made?

I'm not talking about the COTM, which is great, what I am talking about is having the cojones and confidence in your whip to put it on the block and receive unbiased feedback about it.

True that. But as someone else mentioned, you do get a lot of "Parroting" from those who don't know 1st hand.

I know there would be a ton of shit flung at my project, but the only way someone can improve is if there is criticism to discuss items that could be improved.

I will express an opinion based on my 35 years of 914 experience just to get shot down by some person that might have limited or no experience. I try to look at there signatures and amount of posts to get an idea of there experience. Do they own a shop? Are they making six comments but only own a 4?
Either way you have to have a thick skin to post here.

I think it's an assumption that a forum or group of people who have the same interest are all nice and smoozy with each other....not the case; especially here at the world. In my 10 years here I have seen cars as well as people ripped apart...sometimes for no openly apparent reason. Myself included. It is what it is.

We have lurkers, opportunists and haters like any other internet portal. Over time you learn who likes whom; as well as the animosity that is around. It exists, I'm sure the old timers know what i'm taking about. It's not transparent.

Reality is that we are mostly a bunch of CSOBs who like a quirky German car that makes noise and handles like nothing else on the road. SOme of ours are nicer than others.

Criticism and opinions can be a good thing if given with good intent and when asked. Bashing a person or car just for the hell of it is wrong I think.

If they don't ask for your opinion, don't express it. If you have nothing nice to say don't say it.

Nailed it. Your response will probably piss someone off but........you nailed it. There are a couple of folks that get off their meds occasionally, as well! At least that's what I think causes their Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde transformations.

From time to time I think we all forget how fortunate we are to have 914world and it's knowledge bank. Everyone of us was a Humble Son of a Bitch when we joined and needed the collective knowledge that is offered here. Then a few month's later we become experts and are prone to forget "who brung us to the Dance". But let some outsider or newbie fuck with one of our own and they're going to get it from all of us. We're a large family that discuss, squabble and fight amongst ourselves but when the chips are down,........... we have a common goal AND one another's back. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)
