This is very sad news.
After the 2009 WCR I made it from the Streets of Willow Springs to just east of Barstow before I heard a bad squeak that turned out to be a wheel bearing that had gone out. After a tow back to Barstow, I started calling folks on the emergency contact list. Ron was the only one who called back. We arranged for me to rent a car and come down to Riverside to meet him the next morning. He had a complete suspension unit for me and refused to take a dime for it. I was back on the road home the next morning. I'm still running with that unit in my car and I think of him every time I drive it. It's terrible to know that now I'll have to think of him in past-tense instead of looking forward to seeing him again at the next Red Rocks Classic. |
