Hi there, it's been a while since I posted. I will be getting my car back tomorrow or the next day, RUST FREE! Being 17 years old, I worked two jobs for the last six months and realized I'll actually have money left over for rims! I'm debating whether I'll do a 5 lug conversion, or stick with the 4 lug. Anyone post what you've got, right now fuchs(replicas of course) are at the top of my list, but I want to see other ideas. Thanks and have a nice day! Here's my 71, only 90k miles! Finally coming together

What would've been a great help with this thread would've been the tire sizes that folks ran with these wheels...I have a set of the Mahle 4-lug wheels, with 195/60s on it now, and was wondering if I could run 205/55s or even 205/50s without any rubbing issues?

You can see my green car above. As I said, I put on 205-50-15's. One side had tons of clearance, the other side rubbed and I had to pull the fender out. Edit: my car seems to ride a lot higher than others. If I wanted to lower it, I think I'd have to pull out both fenders. Edit: I'm talking about the rears. No issues on the front. |

Yeah, I've heard most rubbing issues will be at the back, because of the difference in track widths, something like 40mm between the front and rear. The 195/60-15s I have on there now seem fine at the back, but I'm wanting to go with a slightly wider tire, so I'm thinking about 205/55s. Maybe if I keep the stock 15x5.5 wheels I could go 205/50? I'm going to try and keep this 914 more or less stock, down to the wheels, and that's going to be a challenge for me! |
