I have built and sold other 914's with LS power and G50-52. Now I am out on a new adventure and want to keep the German theme and starting to wonder how up side down I will be. Face it, we just don't get our money back do we?
What is your guess on value if done well. Good clean tub with no rust All the body stiffening and Chromoly cage 2.7 Bi turbo Audi V6 450hp Cayman 6 speed trans with Wavetrac LSD Porsche 996 suspension and Brakes Steel GT fenders Cable operated head lights 996 turbo wheels fixed in place metal roof sparse interior like a Singer 911, a true drivers car With everything in working order and well sorted. I think it would be a keeper for me but I always say that. What do you think for a value? |

If you use a non Porsche engine, 50% of what you put into it - max.

If you use a non Porsche engine, 50% of what you put into it - max. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) Not saying it to be flippant, it's just the reality. What you're proposing is a poopload of work and reality is the only way to recoup the cost is a decade of grins on your own face. The only way to make money would be to buy someone's 90% done unfinished project for .20-.30 cents on the dollar, finish then flip. But even then it would have to be a nice /4, /6 or a well sorted /6 conversion. Any custom and/or non-Porsche conversion, even a well sorted V8 would be difficult to sell for it's true value. Just a point to ponder, almost no shop will service the car you just spec, so your only potential buyer would likely be an enthusiast. A fellow enthusiast won't pay top dollar, he'll just build his own. |
