I bought my 914 because back in the 70's it was the car I always wanted. Took me 40+ years to get there.

Are most / many 914 owner's members of the PCA? Is there any value to it or is it tailored more to the pretentious 1 percenters who own own a Porsche simply for status?

I find very few PCA members pretentious and no more than other clubs. Most are gear heads like us and simply always wanted one.

I went to 1 PCA Meeting back around 1973.. What a bunch of pompous assholes.
The 911 crowd... Better than thou....
Any 914 was looked down on.... The bastard stepchild..
Maybe things have changed a lot since then....
But I was 1 and done with them.

Most PCA chapters are large enough to have different crowds. When I first joined PCA back in '97, I ran into the same attitude. Almost a decade later, I bought my first Cayman and started autocrossing. Turns out the autocross and DE crowds are vastly different from the bought-it-for-the-name snobs, and actually care about driving the cars rather than what other folks think.
