Help ! Looking for 5 1/4" replacement glass for door mirrors ('73-'76).
Ordered two "rare finds" from ** for $24.50 each, plus ship & guess what ? screwed again ! They sent 1/8" glass, so are loose in the frames when installed. Sent 'em back. The glass needs to be approx. 3/16" to fit snugly. Any ideas ? |

Update on correct thickness: I now have 2 pieces of mirror glass & some calipers in my hands, so here's what... OEM glass for the late ('73- '76) 914's is 4/32 or 1/8".
The glass sold by ** to me was 3/32". If it's not 4/32" it will not fit properly in the factory frames. You can probably use the 3/32" glass if you stick some foam on the back side to shim it up snug, Until 914 Rubber gets these made, we can use the AA glass & shim it. I'm going to contact a "Big City" auto glass & mirror shop & see if they can knock out some nice replacement pieces for a reasonable price, If so, I'll update this thread with the info. |
