Waiting for COA to verify One way or another. Things are promising....1974 2.0 that falls in all the right number ranges for a "Bumblebee" (VIN, Body number, Mfg date). Originally a black car and most paint is original. Has the right options (front and rear sway bar, fog lights, never had sail panel trim strip, etc.). Parents of the previous lady owner purchased the car in 1986 for her to drive in college. All records since their purchase.

Seller said car originally had yellow wheels and bumpers but her parents didn't like the wheel color and made the dealer change them out when they bought the car. Also had a minor front end collision in the late 1980's that damaged the spoiler and front bumper (I have the receipt for the repair).

Can't absolutely verify mileage since history from 1974 to 1986 is not known, However car was purchased with around 44k miles showing and now shows 57k.

Even if it's not a LE the car is still very tight and runs good. We'll see in a few weeks when COA comes back.

referring to my car? i have the original window sticker and the sales invoice, vehicle was sold October 24, 1975. i can tell you regardless of their statement on my sheet that its build date was september, the VIN and the door tag are original and correct, and so are the chassis stamp and karmann tag. and the door jam sticker was in center console when I bought the car, was set aside to be replaced when we were done with body and repaint, but now I can't find it so its somewhere in my boxes I certainly hope it didn't disappear. Without it, I can't verify the build date?

i guess some input from others that are more knowledgeble on VIN and build dates etc may help shed some light on the perceived discrepancy.

the "not really a COA anymore" report puts a 09/15/1975 production completion date down, so I need to get a picture of the door jam sticker from mike if its in the glove box, I have one somewhere but cant find it. not sure if the sticker was removed by p.o. before they painted car, but the sticker was loose somewhere in the car when I got it , but with cleaning everything out to do the body and paint i'm not sure where it was put now. (mike is the body and paint guy helping to restore the car) car was previously painted but not the door jams, original pain in the front by the karmann badge it was not painted over or replaced- the trunks were not painted either when the PO did a paint job back 20 years ago+.

- will report back when I get that from him
