I'm doing a rotisserie restoration on my '76 914 Scarlet (Mars) Red, code L31M.
My question is will changing the color hurt the value of the car?
The car was in great shape but for the hell hole rust (BAD), very little rust in other areas of the car. Also what is the opinion when changing the bumpers? The stock BIG black plastic ones are ? ? UGLY. So keep the car all original or change bumpers and color? Thanks : Jake

For someone looking for an original, or a restored to original like condition, color change and bumper change will hurt. (and considering that you posted in "originality and history" you should know this would be the answer.

That said, its your car to do as you please. I used to hate the large bumpers.. but grew to like them for their relative uniqueness. Also, having been rear ended in my '78 911 (low speed) it became apparent that the weak chrome bumpers of the earlier cars would have proved worthless.

imho, the main reason to ditch the large rubber bumpers is to loose the weight.
