2008 Cayenne GTS, Thinking about buying one ... Options

Anyone here who has a 2008 (or thereabouts) Cayenne GTS?

There's one for sale here locally for $17k and it looks to be a clean and well maintained car. The odo shows just over 100k miles.

Any educated (or otherwise) input from the collective?

You know - they said that about our 914s too! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

And then about the Boxster/Cayenne ....

And all 3 financially saved Porsche's behind & allowed them to stay in business & profitable!

And two of the 3 were also VW - Porsche joint ventures (if not in name/badging), & the 3rd just shared a mess of parts from the windscreen forward with the "sister" 996/997 911s!

As for the 718 4-banger Boxster/Cayman - Porsche screwed up by not keeping the flat six legacy which built those cars from introduction, & should've instead introduced a sub-Boxster car with their flat-4 at lower weight, lower price point, & different market segment.

They could've called the smaller, lighter 4-banger WBX either a 718, or 550 or 914 Redux, sold it in the $45-60K range just under the Boxster/Cayman, & in competition with but above the Alpha 4S, Fiat 124/Miata, etc. sports cars out today. It would've been a bigger hit, & they'd have been selling 4 sports car models - not losing sales on their former best selling sports cars.

That said - both the Cayenne and Macan are great cars/SUVs that give an option to Porschephiles for a family car/5 seater for business, as well as their towing & off-road abilities.

And they're a relative bargain price-wise - relative to ANY comparably equipped (options & trim levels) 1/2 ton pick-up & SUVs out there by any of the Big 3 or Japan, & still have more towing capability & far better performance, handling, comfort braking & power at less size & weight than any of those vaunted trucks/SUVs!

The latter are marked up price tremendously vs cars, whereas European automakers tend to price their SUVs lower than their comparable car models. No wonder the Big 3 want to stop making sedans & coupes here in the USA!

Although you'll pay 2x the parts costs for Porsche parts, than for the Japanese & US vehicles when it comes to repairs!

But then I think too logically & businesslike on such matters! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
