They are never REALLY finished, but I installed the last part today and started putting miles on it to surface any problems.

That's one cleeeeean conversion! Great looking in Malaga, too. How are the windows for sealing? What rubber did you use? Congrats!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) I probably shouldn't admit this, but I started with a pretty nice car. One owner, low miles, SoCal since new, always garaged, zero rust or even a hint of rust. The PO had torn it down completely with a repaint and V8 conversion in mind over 20 years ago, sold the motor, and that's as far as he got. I had it trucked here with the shell crammed full of all the parts. (a good way to learn how a 914 goes together (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) ). So some of the rubber was still quite good. I did replace the triangle window seals, the outer window squeegees, the side and rear seals on the top (among others). The windows fit and seal great. I used Mikey's process. The one change I made was to align the front window runner with the A pillar after installing it and before putting the window and other parts back together. This made aligning the rest pretty easy. Would love to pop down from Abbotsford and see it one day - looks amazing! Pierre Come on down any time Pierre. I'm retired and real flexible. Very nice indeed. Careful with the power input. They eat CV's like a 12 yo kid on a candy bar. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) I've heard that. Also that low gear doesn't respond well to full throttle inputs. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif) . This is an LB9 305. It made 220 HP and 275 ft lbs of torque stock. Maybe a few more now with the Comp Cams Thumpr. Nothing crazy, but enough to break parts I'm sure. One of the advantages (?) of a narrow body V8 is that you can't get very big tires under the car, so hopefully they go up in smoke before parts start flying. |
