I don't have details on how it is supposed to work and the diagrams I have don't have the relay and wiring on them.
The general consensus is that it more often doesn't work correctly. It is supposed to turn on the seatbelt warning light on the dash AND lock out the starter if the seatbelts are not fastened. There is a pressure switch in the passenger seat and there are switches in each seatbelt receiver to determine if the belts are buckled. When you try to start the engine if your seatbelt is not fastened the starter won't crank and if you have a passenger their seatbelt has to be fastened too. The two important wires are the large yellow and yellow with red stripe. These are the power from the ignition switch to the starter and should be pulled from the relay socket and securly connected together. That way when one of the seatbelt receiver switches, seat pressure switch or relay fail you will still be able to start your car. Jim |
