I'm out of touch with wheel prices. What are early deep 6 Fuchs with hearts going for now days?
I sold some other parts to a VW guy, and he was asking about the three early Fuchs I have. I want to be reasonable, but I don't want to fire sale them either. |

$600+ all day long. +1 We are talking about something else entirely if they've never been restored and have been sitting (and thus not heat cycled and used for a long time). $600 each unrestored...there's a buyer for those out there somewhere. $500ea is a deal for someone—though finding a fourth one as solid as these will be the trick. And yes, deep sixes are a bit nutty. I bought a set back when they were roughly at parity for a set of 2.0 Fuchs (what I wanted but couldn't find) for $500 for four. These days, restored sets seem to go for $3700-4500. Or at least, that's the asking. As to those asking why so much more, I guess it's aesthetics more than anything else? I don't think they are any better than the "flat" 15x6 that looks the same from head on, but the depth of the lip and the dimensionality of the spokes is just prettier. Porsche must have decided it wasn't worth the added cost roundabout 1971/1972, when it moved to the "flat" 15x6, which it used through, what, 1977? I really like both, but feel deep sixes (and 7Rs) might be the prettiest wheel you can put on a narrow 914 or early 911/912. |
