...they don't even pay you for it. Those of you who display your stable in your signatures are at risk. I am not a hacker and I don't play one on TV. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
From CNN report today: "Hackers looking to break into your private accounts could use any piece of information you share in a viral challenge, the bureau said: Your favorite TV shows and the makes and models of all the cars you've owned are two examples." |

Never click on a link in an email unless... nah, better just not to do it.
if you get an email saying your password needs to be changed, or something about your account and you want to verify if there is a problem or not, just go directly to the company's website yourself, don't use the provided link. If there's an issue with your account, you'll find out right away when you try logging in. There's also another scam that we're seeing a resurgence of where the email states they have your password and in fact tells you what the password is. The go on to say that they have compromising video of you that they will release if you don't send them $. They password they have may be an old one that you're not using anymore, or you may still be using it. They've gotten it from a hacked password database, usually a very old one. If you're still using that password anywhere, make sure you change it on those accounts. They don't have compromising video of you, but if you were using that password anywhere, they may have accessed the account. A pretty good way to see if an account associated with your email address has ever been hacked: https://haveibeenpwned.com/ And make sure your routers, video cameras, any network device, that you've changed the default password. You'd be amazed at how many people don't change the default password on network devices. |
