Pretty nice 3.6 conversion with a very sporty drive video that has lots of people gaga.

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-porsche-914-6-9/

I find it interesting how some cars (usually very well presented) catch everyones imagination on that site and generate interest and often big $. This is one of them.

In spite of the current societal woes, BAT still seems very much a sellers marketplace. Good luck to seller.

Let me be completely honest. I have not seen this car in person. I am a cynic by nature. I have no vested interest in the car one way or another.

"The body was then primed with 3M Mar-Hyde, treated with Wurth undercoating, and finished in Voodoo Blue using two-stage PPG paint, followed by wet sanding and polishing."

3M Mar Hyde is basically an Ospho like rust converter "primer". Not saying 3M doesn't make good products but it is clear what the intent of the product is.

https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company-us/all-...3284&rt=rud

So I read this as:

We painted over a bunch of rust, then covered that with Wurth undercoating, and then shot a really pretty top coat over the show surfaces, wet sanded it, and did a nice buff job.

I sure hope I'm wrong at that price point. Hopefully buyer is getting pictures of every step in the $100K restoration, all I see is photos from 6 foot away. Granted, it looks solid but without closeups of the body, weld seams, and the hell hole, I'm not convinced.

But, I'm not a potential buyer. Hope they do a profession PPI at that price for a /6 conversion.

Not sure why the side mirrors are black
And the bumper are not chrome.

I like black on my driver . but this needs to be chrome imho
You could buy the 39k$
914 /4 for sale here . pmb i think ?
There was also a white one for 14 but think it sold

And put in a big /6 for less the 40k$ more

Some one please seriously tell me how much a 993 parts car would be .... If it exists

Now you guys see why im not into the 6/ conversions

993 engine, 915 bott trans, all the goodies. On that car, $50-70K in parts before you lift a finger for shop labor.

Nice to see a market for these big buck builds. They are still selling for less than you could build one for (47X vin). Lots of nice cars in the 80-100k bracket. Curious how the new mid engined vet is going to do?

I'd much rather have the 914 on BaT than a C8 (even with the things I'd want to change on the 914 as well as necessary due diligence given a comment here). But I recognize that I'm biased toward the 914—this despite wanting to love the Corvette because, well… (IMG:style_emoticons/default/flag.gif)

Truth is I am just not that into the C8. Saw my first one in the wild, a red C8 that drove past my house. Looked better to me at 30 ft/30 mph than it does in photos, but GM almost always disappoints on the details/build quality. While I still have a minor thing for the C4 ZR-1 and C6 Grand Sport convertible—and mad respect for certain Z06s and ZR1s—the C7 and C8 would have me looking at a Cayman for similar money. The C8's move to automatic only doesn't help. To each their own, however. It's good we have choices...
