OK, truth is, I am working on the 911. Still, I wonder if you cannot lengthen the wires to the alternator so that it is easier to pull the assembly out of the shroud. It seems like my life would be easier if the wires weren’t so gosh durn tight. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I've often wondered why they didn't put a male/female harness connector outside the
grommit in the fiberglass.
Maybe consider doing so instead of lengthning ?

A harness connector and a 2 piece fiberglass shroud (964 style) would make it much easer to service a 914-6.
