Can we pool some dough together? I’ll take her every other Tuesday. When I saw it at Luft last year, the seats were worn and ripped up. took a look at the RM pictures and it looks like it has a set of new leather seats in addition to the worn ones in the car. how many 916's were made, was it 11 or 12? 11 & 1/2 I used to drive this 914-6 that was owned by a Porsche Employee and sent back through to 916 Specs. 35 Pages of Factory Documentation. This would have been a great car to have at last fall's Rare Shades event... though we did have Brutus and several other special 914's... It would have, but we requested Brutus from Canepa because the yellow car had just been seen at Luft. Nice to change things up. Ironically, it turns out that was the last time Brutus was seen in a color that was black. There was a white "916" built by a Porsche employee at the factory (or near it) using factory resources (parts? tools?) detailed in a book. Clearly not a 916. Sort of. Pasha interior, iirc. Seeing the pics of that in-glass antenna brings memories of driving that car back…it was the strangest thing, driving a car that was worth more than a brand-new Bentley that rolled by on 101 but looked for all the world like a 914 with a body kit. I dug that about it, and the full-leather interior, but what I loved most was the delicious balance of the 2.4 MFI with that chassis. It was really nice... |
