Now that I have dropped the engine and transaxle of my '74 2.0L, I have now had to face repairs I have never tackled before, like clutch and flywheel replacement, end play measurement, pushrod tube seals, front and rear main seals, transaxle seals, etc. etc.
I now realize I could never have taken on these tasks without referencing the many fine "how to" videos out there on You Tube, as the printed manuals leave a lot to be desired. I am truly indebted to the mechanics out there who selflessly record and narrate their repair procedures. I for one would never think of hassling with a cell phone or video recorder while my hands are deep in grease and grime. The guys that do this are indeed unsung heroes and I for one salute and thank them. Special thanks to the following for their videos: Ian Kerr Ragamuffyn Garage CT's Garage Jack Dembkowski VW Darrin Jack Kessel Ansbacher |

Could not agree more with @ansbacher
Invaluable assistance to anyone undertaking work on these great but idiosyncratic cars (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I would also like to thank those who document their work so completely with stills - also of considerable help. I usually finish a job and think - oh a few pictures along the way might have helped somebody else....... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) |
