Just removed my outer rocker panels in search of rust. Take a look at what I found!
Kinda learning as I go here. Is this usual to find this much junk in the rockers? It's been 1 year exactly on the project. I've met some amazing people and can't believe how much I have learned. Thanks for all the 914World encouragement! My Dad and I post these videos together. Thanks for watching! Hi ! Great video again.
Your rockers and covers are in great shape ! all can be re-used. and to answer your question : "Am I the only person with a Porsche on blocks?"....welll....NO ! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) But most if us have it on jackstands at same point and not on blocks, but the idea is the same. Keep up the good work !! |

Alright, I don't want to be the grinch that stole Thansgiving but am I the only one concerned about how the car is supported by cinder blocks? I'm hoping there are jackstands somewhere. Really enjoy these videos but don't want to see anyone get hurt. Please work safely. Cinder blocks are not for supporting cars. Worse yet, they are stacked sideways. Cinder blocks are designed to support compression load in a vertical direction (hollow cores oriented vertically). Even then they aren't terribly robust to side loading. Stacking them sideways is the worst possible way to use them assuming that they are the only thing at hand and that you must use them. Concrete doesn't yield with any warning. It simply collapses almost instantaneously. Please consider obtaining a set of jack stands. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) Yup, put the jackstands at the top of your Xmas list. Besides, it will make you part of a very large contingent of 914 owners. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Be sure to get the kind that secure the support with a pin....NO RATCHET STYLE STANDS. Those cinder blocks are strictly for rednecks working on old pickups. Thanks for the great videos...you do know you're a star in the 914 world, don't you? |
