I've got a car in the shop that I'm finishing a 6 conversion on.
I seem to remember someone here making a cable type throttle linkage. I've used Rich Johnson's before, and have a kit here, but looking for an easier way. Thanks in advance! |

Just did a 6 conversion with Weber Carbs and REP intakes with the standard throttle position. I had a new 4 cable and didn't want to screw around building something so I splurged on the slightly expensive (all relative) PMS 6 cable about 4 months ago. Fairly straight forward it seemed but:
1) it doesn't have the nylon sheath that other cables seems to have for within the tunnel. Not that it's a big deal but now you possibly have a raw cable rubbing up against whatever in the tunnel 2) no matter what I did the cable was about 1.5" too long from their bell housing adapter and mount position on the 901 bell housing so maybe designed for 915 trans and it's is slightly different and it fits better?. I had no more adjustment on either end to make up the slack even if I changed to shorter "snap' fittings. In the end I used it and just made my own version of the real 6 throttle linkage. Here is the easy 10min installation of their cable and routing (but ended up with too much cable and not enough adjustment). You make a loop up to the top of the bell housing and use the bell housing nut for their little adapter/cable lock (nothing more than flat stock with a slot for the cable) ![]() In the end I used the cable and just made a 6 style throttle adapter. I think is a lot stiffer/firm but I like a harder pedal. Very similar to my early 911 (since it's very much the same items) ![]() ![]() |
