There was a recent thread from someone bringing a working transmission our of storage and wanting to give it a quick refresh before installing to prevent leaks and such. I'm getting ready to do the same and thought I had bookmarked it but obviously did not. Despite numerous google and native forum searches, I can't find it but it had great advice I could use. Anyone recall that thread?

I recently created a thread about overfilling the trans.
In that thread I discussed the refresh I did. I replaced the odo drive seals, input shaft seal, and the stub axle seals. One thing I didn't do which I might end up doing is the shift input seal in the shift console. I didn't think about it at the time and now I wish I would have. It leaked when I had swepco in the trans but does not seem to be leaking now that I went with good old dino 90 weight. Buying a seal puller was a HUGE help. I just bought the cheap one from Harbor Freight and it worked perfectly. |
