There was a recent thread from someone bringing a working transmission our of storage and wanting to give it a quick refresh before installing to prevent leaks and such. I'm getting ready to do the same and thought I had bookmarked it but obviously did not. Despite numerous google and native forum searches, I can't find it but it had great advice I could use. Anyone recall that thread?

@Morph914
I looked at that Elring kit on the bird. The pic shows a complete gasket set for a complete rebuild. Since I only need the seals, I think I'm going with Genuine Porsche seals from Sunset. It winds up being a couple dollars more than the kit on the bird but doesn't leave me with a bunch of gaskets I'm not likely to use. Don't know if there is much quality difference but about the same $ out of my pocket and no left over parts to store and get ruined before I ever use them. Here's my shopping cart for Sunset with part numbers: ![]() ![]() @AZBanks I'm assuming your 71 still has the tail shifter? Mine is side shift so I'm not sure there is a seal to replace, but someone please let me know if that's wrong so I can get that too. Thanks all! |
