Hello friends.
It's a '73 2.0. As title and description states ... my odometer is not working (neither is the trip odometer). The speedometer is working (although the needle seems to be bouncing a little bit during acceleration and deceleration). Any suggestions on where to start with trouble shooting? Thanks in advance. |

Common problem. It is usually a pot metal gear inside that gets loose on the shaft rather than a plastic gear. You can repair it yourself if you are careful removing the lens bezel. Here is the link to the Pelican article covering the procedure.
https://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/m...auge_repair.htm Note that simply crimping the the gear as suggested in the article is usually only temporary. Mine quit again after about 200 miles of use. The second time I used a bit of JB weld and a punch to deform the gear for a better and more permanent fit. Still working 1,100 miles later. |
