Trying to get my 914 1911cc dual dells timed today. Been down for a while.
While setting ignition timing fuel started spraying from the bubbling guy circled here. This is the main air corrector right? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i.imgur.com-23209-1631663874.1.jpg) Any idea on cause? It might be time for me to throw in the towel on setting dual carbs, I know it will never be perfect with hex linkage. But man, it’s frustrating. (Especially when it was functioning previously - albeit poorly) Unless we have a pro here in Maryland, that I can trade a case of beer to help set me straight, it might be time to look for a reputable aircooled shop to get this thing timed and running well so I can DRIVE it this fall. |

Hi Jared,
IIRC, mine did that when the entire stack (main jet, emulsion tube, and air correction jet) had loosened up--i.e., come slightly unscrewed. You may also want to take out your idle jet and make sure the little o-ring is in good shape. Sorry, that's all I can think of right now. I'm about 1500 miles from the car and my Dell books (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) Hope this helps! Steve A- |
