I have a '73 2.0 (the fuel pump was relocated to the front by the PO).
Lately I've been hearing some noises coming from behind dash/frunk area. It sounds like a pulsating strained noise (almost sounds like a duck). The noise isn't constant. I don't recall hearing it when I start up, but I definitely hear it when I pull up to a red light or get off the highway. I feel like I've narrowed it down to the fuel pump because there's nothing else on when I hear the noise (fresh air box or heat fan in rear). My question(s): Do fuel pumps make noises like this before they're about to die? Could it be something else? Here are some pics ... Attached thumbnail(s) ![]() |

I have the same or very similar pump. I hate it ! If it sounds like a duck and looks like a duck it must be a duck . Let me know if you find a quiet one.

I believe it's a Bosch or at least looks like the Bosch pumps online. Who can recommend a quiet pump? |
