Here's the way I see it.. The lawsuit went through the legal system and the end result was this settlement. In theory, if Microsoft hadn't done anything illegal, it would not have gotten to the point of paying end users. If Microsoft DID do everything on the up and up, and this lawsuit ended with them paying end users, i would consider this wrong. The fault in that would be in our legal system, not in the end user. For the most part I trust our legal system, unless I have a reason not to. To my understanding it isn't a matter of the product, but the practices of the corporation. From where I sit it looks like Microsoft did break laws, and is being punished for it.
Note: This is not a rant. I am only stating my opinion, and some of my limited knowledge of the goings-on of the computer industry. I realize others have different opinions, and I respect that. I just want to show where I am coming from. |
