i think originals were made of bakerlite?
these days = rarely used very old form of plastic. no surprise its expensive - would be difficult to source a supplier to remake in original materials? ........thats if this is a remake in bakerlite? more expensive in aus. i was in at porsche getting some other stuff a couple of years back and i sighted one in the display cabinet. tag was $500.00 aud. Bakelite, it's still used, phenolic intake spacers are a type of bakelite, but since the early 80's they no longer have asbestos in them.
