Well it's not like they don't have access to any engine they fancy; this new Hypercar will use the basic block of an in house V8, biturbo, and run on a non-gasoline fuel. They will be building the internals with a flat-plane crank (918'ish) for extra performance.
Basic block could be out of an Audi or Porsche SUV or sedan...we shall see

Pic from our v8 build and the Cam sensor (red dot same spot. The large area in the upper V on these wide (90° V8) engines usually sport the starter motor up in there...not in our race build/ nor the Porsche Hyper'
Twin turbo Mercedes c63 v8, A/R Giullia v6 both run their blowers in this space. GM LS v8s like the Cayenne v8s stuff their starter motors in there>> mechanics Job Security (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
