I certainly believe the miles, just has had a hard hard life, maybe sitting in humidity, banged around, not maintained one bit, used as a storage shelf ETC.
Case in point, that dark green 914-6 John Forbes found with only 5100 miles on it: A hard one to believe the miles, but evidently well documented, yet we have it here parked next to a TRUE 5400 mile 71 six, and the difference is MORE than day and night. So is our 1974 light ivory "stripper" 1.8 that exactly matches this olympic blue car. DAY and NIGHT difference, as both of our cars were taken well care of and radiate low miles, where the blue one and the dark green six do not |

DAY and NIGHT difference, as both of our cars were taken well care of and radiate low miles, where the blue one and the dark green six do not i am prepared to answer this question and take it on. sure, one variety answers the aesthetic/appearance idea. ie it looks right or gives us an idea of the past visually. but drive either of them and that bit will deliver the feel of the past. you can drive this blue car up for sale. so that is where i would challenge you dr. 914. see, i am into the technological idea of history. and also ageing. i really don't give so much creedance to visuals. i never like to talk about what i do as a day to day job. but ...........its part of the issue of what i do every day. i'm thinking restorations have zero value in historical terms. there is only the original. period. a resto is made up. thats not to devalue, because sometimes a resto is all there is. the best BF 109 is down here in aus. in visual terms. and also by luck technoligal terms. its breath taking, if i could be humble enough to summarise a war artefact. it is straight from the russian front as a war prize and it hangs in our war memorial museum. its the only one. a big fat one. the rest are restos. i like the idea you have a white 74 1.8L jet in your collection. one thing but. you need to take those fuchs off it and stick the star steelies back on it. get serious. we are talking the birth of L jetronic.
