Little things are annoying me. Is there a process to get the floor board back aroung the pedals without disconnecting the accelerator from the cable?

No need to remove the cable. Remove the two bolts that mount the pedal to the floor. If they are rusty soak with a good penetrant.
Remove the pedal covers. Hold the board horizontal and slide onto the top of the pedals and then down. |
