We got us a new member. He goes by Solex, that is a VW carb used on euro 914's by the way. Anyway, he bought that yellow on that was for sale in NJ. Lets give him a warm welcome and bug him for more pictures and some stories.

Hey Scott,

Thanks for the welcome. I picked up the 914 today (pre-blizzard). Surprisingly the car made the trip (a little more then 1 hour) back to Long Island without a problem, other then the fact that there was no heat and it felt like 16 degrees. I must have looked pretty funny going over the GWB all bundled up blowing smoke through my scarf. I really want to get her home in the garage...

Overall the car is in pretty good shape, (I am new to 914's spending all of my driving life working/restoring Beetles) the engine and trans are in good order. The engine pulls nicely, I need to pratice 2nd gear, nothing like the beetle, on a number of occasions I mis-shifted into 4th. This car has a number of little things that need tending to and is really perfect for me because I can drive it and also tinker. I have an 11th month old and he takes most of my free time.

First order of business was to take off the steering wheel, it was installed upside down, at least now the turn-signal cancel will work.

I have a question for the group, the deck lid hold down is missing, (the part welded to the deck lid that goes into the latch), is there a way to get a new one welded back on to the decklid, if so where can I get one?

Thanks again for the welcome!

Dan
