Cost-effective tickets are unobtanium. All general aviation airplanes are being charged a $3000 landing fee, even Cessnas (I don't know if that includes tie-downs). I'm told just getting into a casino this week/end may require having Taylor Swift on your arm.
I'll watch the spectacle for free from my commando-chair. With beer. I'll look for someone sporting a 914 t-shirt! GA P.S., I' m quite salty about this event, but certainly not surprised at all this. Miami led us this way and I figured Vegas could be worse; it is. This, from someone who's been attending F1 races for many decades (Dallas 1984 was my first one, I watch Mansell push his car across the line 150 yards away. Honestly, the Can AM races were more exciting, love those big 'Merican0engined monsters...) Montreal is a good venue, if you have seats. GA is the sux, as you can't see much along the track from ground level. We did all eight Indy F1 races, which cost us about $300/yr for four seats - yup, four - at the top of the grandstands right at Turn One (with a Jumbotron) and that included Fri-Sat general admission (all seats at the venue were GA on Fri-Sat, including those all along the front straight, you could walk in and grab any seat you want/ and/or move around the excellent viewing berms). F1 ain't for the masses any more. Hell, maybe it wasn't ever... |
