Inexpensive glass H4 head light kit Options

While cruising through Arnie's post project thread a comment he posted made me do a bit of searching.

What my search for "Toyota head light kit" revealed was this

That shows a pair of "OEM" glass 7" housings, H4 bulbs, and what looks like a pretty nice harness with relays.

For $42.50...

Hands down this is the least expensive route to glass housing H4 set up.

If the parts are actually made in Japan, the quality will be excellent.

I'd order today if I hadn't already solved my headlight gathering with a used 914Rubber LED kit.

The glass H4 housings individually are often more than that whole kit.

One of the more common LED replacement bulbs is for the H4.

There's no physical interference (at least on my car), and the lighting performance is almost as good as my old Marchal lights (and I wouldn't care as much if one of the Koito lights took a rock).

FWIW, the Toyota harness will go into my old Volvo 240 (didn't need it for the 914 as I updated its wiring using the 911 relay kit from JWest Engineering).

I was worried that the protrusion might create interference for lid movement.

I'm less worried now!

I went ahead and ordered 5 more.

These might make decent Christmas/Birthday gifts for my car freak buddies.

18.77 per kit appears that Toyota muffed the prices.

118.77 would be what I would expect normally (and that price would be OK).

The instructions that came with the kit had a sheet regarding the conversion from fully sealed bulbs to semi sealed bulbs.

Last sentence "We apologize for any inconvenience that this product change may cause you and sincerely appreciate your understanding."

So, they are selling a nice H4 7" conversion kit for 10cents on the dollar and apologizing!

I'd have bought 1 at 118 had I needed it.

At 18.77 I bought 10...
