The Lane Museum is a great organization. I have only read about it but my wife and son visited while she was in the area for a family function. They do use their vehicles quite regularly and even have an annual fundraiser where people can pay to reserve a drive from a long list of cars in their possession.

Not sure I would get too worked up over the mirrors as they are not an uncommon thing on 914’s and Lane is not really set up to be a concourse factory museum. They have a large eclectic collection and really want to preserve the history of all kinds of cars.

While living in Murfreesboro, I was a member of the museum. I had a blast and visited quite frequently. Jeff is super cool. He took me for 2 rides in a Tatra 77 the same day. Imagine a larger, very plush early beetle with a huge metal sunroof and rear wing... on steriods! The sound of that aircooled V8 was amazing! Bucket list moment for me!
