I put this together for one of our 914World members. It slides into the ashtray rails, no fasteners or drilling holes required.

The two gauges shown have different depths, though either gauge will work on either side, I have no knowledge if VDO has built gauges with different depths or stud spacing other than these two. The voltmeter is the deeper gauge and has a body depth of 34mm. 2) Pictured on a '72 model. I assume ashtray's & rails are the same for all years but I don't know that with certainty. Do your own diligence. Peace, Ron |

Very cool, I’d buy one too… +1 on the angled gauges… i did a radio plate with angled (pvc) gauges… two different depths cause one of my gauges had a thicker bezel than the vdo gauge… ![]() I think the challenge with doing angled gauges would be it is a much tighter space, plus the right side would need to be a smaller depth. Lastly, they would be offset in the opening; the left gauge tight against the left side, the right one more to center with a wide space on the right side. The only 'glitch' I found so far is apparently the early dash ('70) is a little narrower around the opening on the bottom. |
