Can a 914 tow another 914 with this hitch? Anyone's estimate of how much weight a 914 can tow?

Can a 914 tow another 914 with this hitch? Anyone's estimate of how much weight a 914 can tow? @914werke A 914 may be able to tow another 914, but you probably shouldn't. An example of how this could go very wrong is when I used my 50 hp (on a good day) 81 Rabbit diesel 5-speed pickup to flat tow a VW Super Beetle while hauling 2 dune buggy bodies along with various other VW parts in the truck bed. (I REALLY wished I had a photo of this!). It was slow going but was able to get to the speed limit of 35 mph on a side road. The light changed as I approached the intersection and had to do a mild panic stop. The problem was, the momentum of the Super Beetle lifted the back end of the little pickup slightly and pushed me right through the intersection with only my overwhelmed front brakes to (eventually) stop me. Luckily nobody else was in the intersection! I eventually made it home but approached all the other intersections with a LOT more caution. |
