Changed out both the Directional switch and the Wiper switch in the 914 a week or so ago. Seems to be working fine EXCEPT - the wiper return to off capability still doesn't work.
I have the following steering wheel, part number 914-347-8041, a hard plastic phenolic ?? wheel with the following return post, see pics. Seems the return post isn't long enough to mate with the switch mechanism. Is it broken off or is there another part I should be looking for ?? I've scoured the World for previous posts on this subject to no avail. Or maybe I'm still a rooking at looking Thanks all ![]() ![]() |

I had the same problem when replacing the turn signal switch on my 1970 car with an aftermarket switch assembly from Dansk. Finally I had to shim the operating arm screwed to the bottom of the steering wheel hub with 3 flat washers (1 washer under each of the attaching screws) to make the tab portion stick down far enough into the turn signal switch in order to move the little arm up or down when the turn signal arm was moved, and thereby turn off the blinkers. I also agree that that the 4 mounting screws which hold the turn signal switch must not be screwed on too tightly, and don't forget to use the small metal tubular spacers on those 4 screws where they pass through the turn signal switch.
