Are both sides of the blower control unit meant to illuminate?

I pulled ours out to clean and lubricate it. I could only find one wire with a bulb under the dash and it was plugged into the right side blue lens. Is that correct? There are two lenses, so I'd expect to find two bulbs.

If there is only one bulb, I'd expect it to go in the left red side. The car only has heat, no air. The owner's manual makes no mention of the lights. Just the sliders.

Thanks for your help with my never ending stream of questions. I seem to fix one thing, then find two more that need attention... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Thanks for the confirmation. I wonder why the other red lens then. Oh well. One less thing to chase.

red lens might have been for the 911s? i dunno, don't have a 911. but the 914 just used the 911 heater slide controls and maybe did not have that bulb activated. all i can think.

mine only illuminates with the fresh air blower fan when it comes on as you slide the top control right. no bulb in left side. but mine is a 74. handbook only mentions the right side light comes on in a 4 with the blower fan as well.
