A drivetrain is available and I'm shopping for a new modern transplant for the Neo914. It's 1.6L, not supercharged, and I know BMW owns the company. Let me know your thoughts and knowledge...

The engine in the Mini is a South American built motor built to a Chrysler design and is a joint venture between BMW & Chrysler. Now that Chrysler is Diamler Chrysler BMW is making plans to use a differnet motor in the next revision of the Mini. BMW & Mercedes are the fiercest of rivals and I am actually surprised that D-C agreed to continue allowing BMW to use the engines after the take over.
The engine is supposed to be solid and a decnt performaer if a bit rough around the edges. I'm no Mopar guy but Chrysler has enjoyed success with their 4-cilyder deisgns for years (Daytona, Neon, etc.). I'm not sure who th gearbox is sourced from. |
