Well, I have been busy rebuilding a transmisson and went ahead with flipping 5th and 3rd gears for AXing. It's been interesting to say the least but not too hard. Here is a shot of the assembled gear stacks.

Hmm, must be gettin old can't remember or was it when it was the awful color before. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
All 4 cylinders trannies are geared the same, the only option was the LSD. Hmm, I wonder if that was available in 1969? Is that why the OP Art seats became available because of the LSD? The thing to do is to pull apart the trannies you have and source out the best sets of gears and sliders. The tailshifter trannies can have better gears and sliders (esp 4-5th) probably because you had to shift slowly and couldn't cram the gears together as easy. I did re-use the sliders on the rebuilt unit, just too expensive for me at this time. I had a prefect 1st gear setup that I bought at a swap meet that I used, so all I had to do was install a syncho on a nice 2nd gear, and install the bearings. I'll have it running in a couple of hours....I hope. Geoff (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_flagge24.gif) |
