Hi everyone,
I make the 911R parts for the 911 guys, AR Concepts. I was asked by a few people now to make 911R style tail lights for the 914. It's a lot of work to get the first set out so I'm asking before I start. What do you guys think? Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Mike Swanson http://members.cardomain.com/911r_parts |

Aluminum trunk skins save a little weight. Use 20ga aluminum with tin so it won't bend at high speeds. Peel your steel skin off, flaten the edges and use for a pattern. The doors can be done the same way, just a lot of work where the door handle and vent window post are. For the door handle use two 2X4 with a c section cut out to match the shape of the handle. clamp the aluminum between the 2X4s and work the shape with hammers and put a lip on it with vise grips. It sounds simple and is after the second or third set. Use 3M metal to metal bonder. While you have the door skin off you can cut the guard rail out. I'll be doing a few sets soon and I'll try to get some pictures of how it's done so you can save weight and a $1000.00 a set. |
