Nothing official here, just giving us a place to cast some votes, watch how it goes. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

My vote too (although Reno for 2007 sounds better to me). I did not make it to either 2004 or 2005, but I can guarantee you I WILL be there for 2006 wherever it is held. I have to drive through Las Vegas to get to Portland, but driving through is really all I ever want to do with Las Vegas. If the event is ever held there, I'll be there, but only because of the event - not because of the location. If we end up piggybacking with the Portland Classics event, and it is on the same weekend in 2006, it would be cool for my wife because the annual Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show is the second weekend in July. (Now that might be cool - drive to Sisters on Saturday and show off the 914s to about 20,000 quilters. Ok, there's probably only two of us on this list who have an interest in both 914s and quilting - nevermind.) As far as names are concerned, I think "West Coast Classic" applies if it is held anywhere west of the Arizona/New Mexico border. Given the driving distance from San Diego to Seattle, you could even argue that anywhere west of the New Mexico/Texas border would still fit the idea of being driveable from the west coast - which is my idea of how to apply the name. I absolutely agree with those who have mentioned that what makes the event work is that people hang out together. I've been to family reunions where everyone was running off in small groups to nearby attractions - there wasn't a whole lot of getting acquainted/reacquainted that went on because everyone was somewhere else. |
