any particular sizing or things to look for in a wastegate?
I do know that cockpit adjustable units should be avoided to prevent the urge to crank up the boost "just one more psi, what can it hurt???" LOL the turbo that I don't have for the project I don't plan on attempting, has no internal wastegate (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads/post-2-1083610648.jpg) |

1st will be the short stroke engine (69mm???) (internally stock 1.8) ...depending on how I like a turbo 914 will be a factor in whether or not I also turbo my 78 stroke motor..... according to Jake, the cam I have picked out will work fine with a low boost turbo application....I went with 94mm Nickies so those will help with the cooling, but I will still be limited to boost due to the sealing issues....
$100 brand new*, hard to pass it up considering a used W/G would have been in the $35 or more range *guy had it listed as a specific car model wastegate for a vehicle that did not come stock with a turbo, I think it scared some people from bidding....
still undecided on the mounting of the turbo, if I mount it high, no extra pump needed.....if low, then I'll go with the electric pump, not too motivated to pull the motor just to install a brand new stock location oil pump (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smash.gif) |
