any particular sizing or things to look for in a wastegate?
I do know that cockpit adjustable units should be avoided to prevent the urge to crank up the boost "just one more psi, what can it hurt???" LOL the turbo that I don't have for the project I don't plan on attempting, has no internal wastegate (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads/post-2-1083610648.jpg) |

of the few 914-turbos that don't exist (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif), the turbo itself has been placed in the following locations with great results: engine compartment, sitting above the motor, on passanger side up near the bellhousing (opp. side of starter), all the way back near the side of the transmission mounting ears.... all of them have worked, no issues with major turbo lag or any of that stuff as long as turbo size is taken care of.... there are Chevy V8's running stock transmissions and "little" 205 sized tires with no problems..most turbo /4's are putting out way less hp/tq so it should be no big deal....even when the boost does come on, it's not like it's going to be an instant 75hp increase that going to shock the drivetrain... |
